Dark and moody tones - Wedding photography
As you know my initial style of shooting and editing photography is a blend of light, bright and airy and natural color. However this doesn’t mean I am limited to this style. It is just the most popular and my favorite when it comes to wedding photography. However my goal is to make your wishes become reality and I can adapt my style to make sure your wedding photography reflects your personality. Therefore that is why, on request I am also offering dark and moody wedding photography style with a touch of mat and grainy tone. This gives more of a cinematic and mysterious vibe to the wedding photography. If you choose dark and moody wedding photography and editing style you must inform me on this before the wedding day as this is a different style of shooting using different settings.
Dark and moody VS bright and airy VS natural tones. What is the difference ?
The dark and moody style is great for couples that prefer more mystical, mysterious and filmic vibes. Depending on the scenery the dark and moody style can even have a more dramatic look. The greens will be slightly desaturated and the blacks will have more of a mat feel. This works perfectly with darker venues such as castles, old manors, industrial wedding venues. The dark and moody style also blends perfectly to rustic venues such as barns. It is also great for cloudy and overcast days. It is rather hard to achieve this look during a sunny outdoor ceremony. In the final gallery you will get more of the black and white photos and you will get the “in movement” blurry artistic shots which are aesthetically very pleasing for creative couples. Some wedding couples will request for a slightly more vintage look while having an overall dark and moody edit. The vintage look will have more grain in the image and will be slightly softer to imitate those old vintage cameras.
The bright and airy style is perfect for couples that are looking for a classy and very clean vibe. It is very often chosen for luxury weddings as it gives this look of purity. It is perfect on sunny days and in bright locations such as white tents, venues with very large bright windows or outdoors setup in open nature. It works great for uncluttered backgrounds. Please note that this style is almost impossible to achieve on very cloudy and overcast days. Light and airy style also doesn't work well at all in rooms with dark or red/orange walls. Pastel or light color walls are what we need for the bright and airy style.
The third option is the natural tones. It is also called true to color style. What you see is what you get. It won't be too bright or too dark. This is a very timeless option.
