Hart House Wedding Photographer and Videographer: Bonnie and Yifan's Toronto Wedding

Bonnie and Yifan are the kind of couple who forget the camera is there. They laugh easily and spend most of the day looking at each other instead of at us. Their Asian wedding at Hart House in Toronto was full of family, tradition, good food and small quiet moments. As their Hart House wedding photographer and videographer, we told that story in photos and film.

Hart House Toronto: A Wedding Venue With Real History

Hart House sits on the University of Toronto's St. George campus, and walking in feels like stepping back a century. Construction began in 1911, and during the First World War the building was used to train and care for soldiers. It officially opened on Remembrance Day in 1919.

The Massey family gave it to the university, and Vincent Massey, later Canada's first Governor General born in Canada, named it after his grandfather, Hart Massey. Architect Henry Sproatt designed it in the Gothic Revival style. You see that style everywhere: stone arches, vaulted ceilings, oak panelling and tall leaded windows. More than a hundred years later, it remains one of the most characterful wedding venues in Toronto.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is the showpiece, with stained glass, a carved timber ceiling, bronze chandeliers and a Steinway grand piano. A passage from Milton's Areopagitica, his essay on free speech, runs around the walls in gold lettering. With the tables set and the candles lit, the room felt warm and grand at once. It seats up to 250 guests for dinner and dancing, so it suits a big family celebration.

The Quad and the Stone Galleries

At the centre of the building is the Quad, a private courtyard framed by stone walls. It works well for an outdoor ceremony, a cocktail hour or a calm portrait break. Inside, the long galleries and staircases offer soft window light and deep shadows. For a photographer, almost every hallway is a backdrop.

Timeless and Elegant Wedding Photography at Hart House

Bonnie and Yifan wanted photos that will still feel right decades from now. That is how we work at every wedding: natural colours, true skin tones and clean, elegant framing. We guide when it helps, then step back. With a couple this candid, the best frames came from staying close and paying attention.

Romantic Black and White Film Inspired Portraits

For part of the day we leaned into a romantic black and white look inspired by classic film. Hart House is made for it. Window light falls across stone and wood, giving soft highlights and deep shadows that need very little editing. In black and white, the eye goes straight to expression and touch: a hand on a shoulder, foreheads resting together, a shared laugh under a stone arch.

Hart House Wedding Videography With a Real Feel

Our films stay honest. We keep staging light and let real sound, real reactions and real energy carry the story. For Bonnie and Yifan we used a reel style edit with natural camera movement and a lively pace, so watching it feels like standing in the room with them.
